ETBU ATHLETIC TRAINING

An Athletic Trainer is a qualified allied health care professional, education and experienced in the management of health care problems associated with an active lifestyle. In cooperation with physicians and other allied health care personnel, the Athletic Trainer functions as an integral member of the health care team in secondary schools, colleges and universities, professional sports programs, sports medicine clinics and a variety of other settings.

ETBU's program prepares graduates, through a combination of formal classroom instruction and supervised clinical experiences, to assume entry-level positions in the Athletic Training professions and provides a foundation for advanced study in Athletic Training. The student must satisfactorily complete all academic requirements as well as the supervised practical experience hours. The ETBU Department of Kinesiology and Exercise Science does not guarantee that each person admitted to the Athletic Training Education Program will pass all elements of the program or that those graduated from the program will pass the state licensing or national certification exams. The attainment of these goals is dependent upon the degree to which students diligently apply themselves to their studies.

ACCREDITATION

ETBU is accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). Accreditation was awarded in April 2005.

*The Athletic Training Education Program of East Texas Baptist University is proud to announce it has received a 10-year accreditation certificate from the CAATE good through the 2019-2020 academic year.

Further information on this program can be found in the university catalog.
