Blankenship Wins ASC Championship in High Jump
Saturday, April 26, 2014

ABILENE, Texas – Crowning an American Southwest Conference champion in the first day of competition, East Texas Baptist University’s Cody Blankenship became the first champion for the Tigers.  ETBU took four athletes to Abilene for the championships as two competed on day one.

Blankenship cleared 6’8.75” to win the field over five other participants with his best height of the year.  His leap was over four inches more than the second place finisher and should propel him into the top 10 in the NCAA standings tied for 10th place.

Also competing today was Jenny Utterback for the women in the triple jump.  She surpassed her personal best with a leap of 32’10.25” to finish in sixth place.

Landon Price and Megan Merrill will be participating on Saturday at the meet.
