Mary Slaughter

MARSHALL, Texas – The East Texas Baptist University athletic department announces the etbusports.com athletes of the week in Junior Mitchell and Mary Slaughter.  Both players had three games last week vs. LSU-Shreveport, Texas Lutheran, and Schreiner University.  This is the first award for the basketball season for athletes of the week.

Mary Slaughter – Sr. – Homer, La. – Missouri-St. Louis – Athens HS

Slaughter recorded a double-double on the week averaging 11 points and 10 rebounds in three games played.  She recorded her 22^nd career double-double at ETBU in a win over Schreiner University with 13 points and 13 rebounds.  In the first ASC game of the season, she posted 15 points and eight rebounds vs. Texas Lutheran shooting .636 from the floor.  She then grabbed nine rebounds in a loss to LSU-Shreveport with one block.  ETBU is now 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the ASC which is the best start for the program since the 2005-06 season.
