Making their fifth tournament in six years, ETBU was ranked #2 in the final West Regional poll and received an at-large bid into the tournament. They have received at-large bids in 2009, 2010, and 2014. They made it in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2011, 2013 with an automatic bid winning the ASC Tournament.
NCAA Tournament Record
Entering the 2014 tournament, ETBU has a 17-13 (.556) record in seven appearances. Last year, they went 3-2 falling in the regional championship game. Their longest winning streak came in 2010 when they won eight games in a row after playing in the elimination game in the regional tournament in Louisiana. The winning streak led them to the national championship und head coach Janae Shirley. ETBU is 8-7 vs. nationally ranked opponents in the touranment, too. They have also recorded six shutouts in seven appearances.

First Round Games
In seven tournaments, ETBU is 5-2 in opening games. They won their opening games in 2002, 2004, 2009, 2010, and 2013. In their first-ever tournament, they went 2-2 overall with an opening win over LaVerne, 7-0.
In four of the five opening day wins, ETBU has recorded shutouts. They have shutouts over LaVerne (2002), Linfield (3-0; 2004), and Claremont Mudd Scripps , twice (9-0; 2009) (3-0; 2013). They have scored 27 runs and given up nine runs in the opening games.
ETBU NOTES for NCAA TOURNAMENT
8 NCAA Tournament Appearances
For the eighth time in the NCAA Tournament, ETBU is tied for most appearances in the ASC with Louisiana College. They are one ahead of UT-Tyler who is making their seventh appearance. ETBU has played in 30 NCAA Tournament games with a 17-13 record and are 14-7 under Janae Shirley.
ETBU made the NCAA Tournament in 2013 after missing the 2012 tournament. ETBU went 3-2 last year playing in the regional championship game falling to UT-Tyler. Both losses were to UT-Tyler. All five games last year were against ranked opponents.
NFCA National Rankings
In the latest NFCA national rankings, ETBU moved up two spots to #6. They have never dropped out of the top 10 this year and been ranked as high as fifth. They have now been in the NFCA national rankings for 23 straight weeks dating back to week 1 in 2013 where they debuted at 25th.
The West Region, who is the only region hosting two three-team regionals, has three teams in the top 10 as Linfield moved up to #2 and UT-Tyler is #3. Clarmont-Mudd-Scripps is #22 and Redlands, who is hosting the other regional, is 25th.
NFCA National Player of the Week
For the second time this year ETBU had a player named the national player of the week. Jayme Perez, a freshman, was given the award after hitting five home runs in the ASC Tournament. Earlier this year, Shelby Parker won the award as the pitcher of the Week.
ASC Players of the Week/Awards
Eight times this year ETBU won ASC Player of the Week awards. They won four pitcher of the week awards between Shelby Parker (2) and Kelly Jo McLendon (2). Lacey Lindsey (2), Alyssa Romero, and Lacy Liles also won the hitter of the week award.
ETBU then led the ASC with seven first-team selections in Lacy Liles, Lacey Lindsey (freshman of the year), Alyssa Romero, Kelly Jo McLendon, Shelby Parker, Jayme Perez, and Kayla Garcia. Making third team were Mallory Westbrook and Kaitlyn Hollinshead.
20-Game Winning Streak
From March 22 through May 2 ETBU put together a program best 20-game winning streak going 12-0 in April. In that run ETBU recorded 14 shutouts with six in a row from April 4-17. After giving up one run on April 18, ETBU pitched five more shutouts and had a perfect 5-inning game in that time. In the 20-game run, ETBU outscored opponents 166-9 and hit 27 home runs.
ETBU tied the record for most home runs hit in an inning when they hit four in the first inning vs. Sul Ross State in the final game of the year. They finished withe seven in the game which is third all-time in NCAA Division III.

These two teams (ETBU, UTT) have met 46 times overall since UTT started their program in 2004. In 31 of the 46 games played both teams have been ranked with 18 of the games being Top 10. In the last two years, UTT has a 10-4 record vs. ETBU and in the those games there have been seven have been one-run games. UTT is 6-2 in those games

One-Run Games Record vs. UTT: 2-6
ETBU played UTT twice on Sunday, May 4th, for the ASC Championship. ETBU won the first elimination game, 4-2, breaking a six-game losing streak to the Patriots. In game two, for the championship, ETBU fell in eight innings, 5-4. ETBU had 4-1 lead heading into the top of the seventh inning but allowed three runs to score that tied the game. ETBU then left the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh and UTT scored a run in the top of eighth for the lead. With two outs, ETBU was threatening to tie the game when a ball hit down the right field line was called foul on a controversial call. Two pitches later the game ended on a line out.
Top 10 Meetings
These two teams have met 17 times when both were ranked in the NFCA Top 10 rankings. ETBU is 8-9 in those games and the last eight meetings have all been Top 10 meetings with UTT holding a 7-1 record.
There has been only two meetings when a team was ranked #1 and that was last year. ETBU, who was ranked 12th, won both games in the ASC Tournament, 10-9, and 6-2 for the ASC Championship.
National Ranked Meetings
Over 30 times these two teams have met when both nationally ranked. They have met 31 times when both teams were ranked and UTT holds a 16-15 record. In the last two years, UTT is 10-4 in the nationally ranked meetings.
One Run Games vs. UTT
In 21 of the 46 meetings, the game has been decided by one run. ETBU is 10-11in those one-run games and is 2-6 in the last two years in one-run games. Five of the last seven games have been one-run games as UTT is 5-2 in that time.
There has been close to 400 runs scored in all the meetings between these two teams. UTT leads the overall runs, 192-175.

Former ASC Matchup -- East vs. West
Former ASC opponents will meet for the second year in a row this time in the NCAA Tournament. ETBU has met TLU 16 times with ETBU holding a six-game advantage, 11-5. ETBU has won the last four meetings dating back to 2009. TLU last defeated ETBU in 2007, 6-2.
TLU left the ASC after the 2012-13 year to join the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and did not play ETBU this year.
The two teams played a top 20 match up in the second round of the ASC Tournament. TLU held a 1-0 lead after four innings only to see ETBU score two runs in the bottom of the fifht inning and then adding a run in the sixth inning for the 3-1 win. Kelly Jo McLendon received the win for ETBU while Carmichael took the loss for TLU. Alyssa Romero had one hit for two RBI giving ETBU the lead.
ETBU has met Texas Lutheran just twice in the post season in the ASC Tournament and hold a 2-0 lead. They met last year in the second round winning, 3-1, and then played in 2004 taking a 6-1 win.
In the 16 meetings, over 100 runs have been scored between the two teams. ETBU leads the runs scored category, 69-33.
